What is Articulated College Credit?

What is Articulated Credit?

Articulated and Direct College Credits allow high school students to acquire college credits upon successful completion of a college level course. Eaton RESA's programs are based upon college level work. So students can earn college credits if they pass all the necessary requirements to complete the program (assessment tests, homework, test, grades).

What is the difference between Articulated and Direct Credit?

Direct Credit allows you to earn college credits that can transfer to most community colleges in Michigan. Articulated Credit also allows you to earn college credit but it must be used at a specific college, in this case, the credit must be applied at Lansing Community College. Most of the Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center programs offer Direct College Credit. However, we have two programs that only offer Articulated College Credit --- Heavy Equipment Operator and Repair at AIS.

How is Direct Credit Awarded to the Student?

Direct credit is awarded to a student who: a) meets the performance objectives for a specific college course; b) obtains the required Accuplacer level prerequisite for the course(s), c) passes the college course final examinations, if one is required. These credits are shown as numerical grades on the student’s college transcript.

Why is this important for you to know?

Articulated and direct credits allow high school students to earn college credits while they are still enrolled in high school. You can save time and money right now.

What does this all mean? You're getting a jump start on college by having the chance to earn college credits BEFORE you graduate high school.

Course: Animal Science and Zoo Management

Students in the Animal Science and Zoo Management course experience real-world interactions with animals while participating at Potter Park Zoo. On a daily basis, you might be caring for animals by feeding them, cleaning their cages, and learning about the physiology and anatomy of animal bodies. This class is a mixture of hands-on interactions and classroom teaching.

Students can learn skills that will contribute to further education in Marine Biology, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Zoology, Conservation, and Environmental Education.

Questions for Parents and Students

Parents:
Are you curious about the advantages of enrolling your child in a 'Career Prep Center'? Have you considered the benefits of hands-on learning, job training, and internship opportunities for your child? Did you know they have an opportunity to receive help from our Student Services Coordinators to write a resume, cover letter, and practice job interview training?

Students:
Are you a visual learner? Do you like hands-on activities? Do you think you would enjoy participating in a college setting and meeting new people? Do you have a hard time sitting still for long periods of time listening to lectures? Have you thought about the advantages of going toward a non-traditional route?

Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center offers numerous benefits for parents and students. It is our intent to provide students with an exceptional education and guidance toward career planning.
